EXPO IN SHANGHAI

No other international platform in 2010 had such strong appeal as the World Fair in Shanghai. The guests of honor included the Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg, which together with the federal state of Salzburg  presented two of its most valuable original Mozart items to the world's public in October 2010: Mozart's original violin and his original viola.

The two instruments were heard during a concert, when they were played by musicians of the Camerata Salzburg. The Foundation's president, Johannes Honsig-Erlenburg, personally welcomed the audience in Shanghai together with a delegation from the Foundation. The Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg thus clearly signaled that Mozart's legacy is not the exclusive preserve of the people of Salzburg – it is available to everyone in the world. The Foundation's presence at the World Fair in Shanghai was intended to symbolize the fact that  Mozart's legacy can reach all people in their home countries – no matter if they live in Asia, America, or Europe.
