LIBRETTI

The textual sources of Mozart’s operas und other vocal works present researchers with a challenging task:  Not only must the underlay of texts in the original manuscripts by Mozart be regarded, but also the texts in printed and other handwritten sources as well as the development of language over the past 250 years must be considered. Currently, an online version of libretti is being compiled which will depict the textual and musical sources of various editions as well as their historical orthography and modern transmission for each of Mozart’s operas.
