Programme

Compositions by Domenico Cimarosa (1749–1801), Franz Danzi (1763–1826), Nicolas-Marie Dalayrac (1753–1809), Coelestin Jungbauer (1747–1823), Wolfgang Amadé Mozart (1756–1791), Antonio Salieri (1750-1825), Eric Aren Schroeder (*2002)

The collections of the International Mozarteum Foundation and the Archdiocese Archives contain several music collections compiled by women in the 18th and 19th centuries, which formed the starting point and basis for the ongoing FWF Elise Richter Project on female patrons of music between 1760 and 1840. The collectors were mostly aristocratic dilettantes themselves, but also included music teachers and musicians, and they were active as patrons and benefactors of musicians. Among them are Josepha von Paumgarten, who pulled the strings for Mozart so that he received the commission for Idomeneo from the Munich court; Nanette Fröhlich, one of Franz Schubert’s principal patrons; and Hedwig von Gatterburg, one of the finest singers in 19th-century Salzburg. Under the direction of Erik Aren Schroeder (https://schroedererik.com/about), one of the finest historically informed musicians of his generation, selected works from their collections will be performed on period instruments, transporting us to the world of the salons of the 18th and 19th centuries.
