  • Benjamin Herzl (Violin)
  • Ingmar Lazar (Piano)

The young violinist Benjamin Herzl from Salzburg and his colleague, the French pianist Ingmar Lazar, who is only one year older, together play a duo programme with a French influence on the threshold between Belle Époque and modernity: this means a particularly stimulating mixture of brilliance and profundity, richness of melody and sensuality. The high-wire caprices created for the virtuoso Pablo de Sarasate by Camille Saint-Saëns, who was not yet 30 years old; César Franck's Sonata with its motto idea, which fascinated Marcel Proust as he "rises out of sound waves"; the personal conclusions that the very young George Enescu drew from Brahms and Wagner; the intimate, balanced dialogues of Debussy's late work: together they form the kaleidoscope of a fascinating time of upheaval.
