  • Die Kolophonistinnen

Greek pitch: This is what colophony, the yellowish-brown distillation residue of a tree resin, was once called, which in ancient times was spread and used in many ways, not least via the trading centre of Kolophon, a coastal town in Asia Minor. Even today, it is still indispensable in refined form for stringed instruments in order to rub the bow hairs with it for the optimal adhesive sliding effect.

Austrian happiness: this means the very young cello quartet "Die Kolophonistinnen" (The Colophonists), which has achieved considerable success with its unusual, especially sonorous instrumentation
and will now prove their qualities in a magnificent, entertaining musical bouquet from Mozart to the present day.
Open Doors & Bar at 5.30 pm

Dmitri D. Shostakovich, Sergei Prokofiev, Wilhelm Fitzenhagen, Georg Christoph Wagenseil, Mozart, Florian Bramböck, Matthias Bartolomey, Josef Strauss
