Igor Stravinsky "The Story of the Soldier
In 1918, a good six weeks before the armistice, Stravinsky's "Story of the Soldier" is premiered in Laussanne in neutral Switzerland. It is a kind of small travelling stage opera, "to read, play and dance" - after all, it should be suitable for travel and also bring in some money in difficult times. but the tour is cancelled because all participants fall ill with the Spanish flu, the pandemic that caused at least 25 million deaths between 1918 and 1920 ... A special part is played by the narrator, who takes on all three main roles of the play. Isabel Karajan, who has been associated with this play for ten years, shows her ability and her versatility.
