Maria Bill sings Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel
Two legends, one evening
Edith Piaf, the sparrow of Paris, is something like the big sister. As a character and with her songs, she has stood faithfully at Maria Bill's side for over 30 years, accompanying her in concert halls and on theatre stages. Although the Swiss singer attaches great importance to her own interpretation of the songs, she resembles the French singer in her passion, in her tireless burning for the music and the audience. Dressed in black, lips painted bright red and a smoky, emotionally intense voice: "Padam, Padam" - this is how you know the graceful, energetically vibrating Bill, who follows in the footsteps of the Parisian singer. Since she now knows Piaf almost as well as she knows herself, she emotionally tells the audience anecdotes and biographical details of a life marked by high flights and deep crises in a touching way and thus illustrates the well-known chansons.
It is Maria Bill's great concern to bring the personality of this immortal singer to the audience from her very personal point of view. "Edith Piaf is a woman who has lived passionately and wastefully, always in search of love and appreciation. It is my heart's command to keep her story alive and to carry it into the present. The story of this little, great, unforgettable artist."
