I hope it is not necessary to say that I care very little about Salzburg and nothing at all about the archbishop, and I don't give a damn about everything ... Wolfgang Amadé Mozart wrote to his father Leopold in July 1783.
Mozart had a tense relationship with his home town. His time in Salzburg also ended with the legendary kick in the ass of Karl Count Arco. He often felt artistically restricted and misunderstood in this small archbishopric town, but at the same time he loved the people and the city with all his heart. Numerous letters bear witness to this interesting and complex relationship between city and man.
