Who was Mozart’s mother? The family letters bring Anna Maria, née Pertl, closer to us. Only a few documents in her own hand have survived. These date from the journey with her son Wolfgang Amadé to Mannheim and Paris, which began full of hope and ended tragically. Letters to her mother, references to her in correspondence and the music that surrounded her all help us to get to know and appreciate this fascinating and multifaceted woman.
