Friends of Mozart from all over the world support our initiatives in three core areas: concerts, research and museums.
Since its foundation in 1880, the Mozarteum Foundation has looked back on a long tradition of civic engagement. Numerous private friends and partners’ ongoing support for the Mozarteum Foundation’s unique mission has not wavered, despite the many changes that have occurred since then.
As a private, non-profit association, we welcome any contribution that helps us to preserve and promote Mozart’s legacy. The choice is yours: join the non-profit association ‘Internationale Stiftung Mozarteum’ as a supporting member or support our work with one-off donations. Perhaps a particular project will spark your interest, or you would like to take on a sponsorship or patronage for a specific area.

BECOME A PART OF THE FAMILY
Being a member or patron assures you closest relationship to the heritage of Mozart for 365 days a year, entrance to both Mozart Museums in Salzburg all year, invitations to special events and exclusive gifts.
The Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation is a non-profit organization that operates under the title “Internationale Stiftung Mozarteum” (ISM). The organization comprises regular members, patrons, founders, honorary members and the members of the Academy for Mozart Research (Akademie für Mozart Forschung). On “Mozart Day” (Mozart-Tag), during the annual General Assembly, the Board of Trustees that votes for an Executive Committee and an Advisory Board, is appointed for three years. Business is conducted by the Chief Executive Officer, with support of the directors of the divisions Concerts, Research, and Museums, in addition to around 100 coworkers.
If you are interested in taking an active part in the non-profit work of the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation, and would like to offer your support, we would be delighted to invite you to become a member. The annual dues of members and patrons, like the donations of our founders and donators, have provided reliable substance for the activities of the foundation since its establishment in its original form in 1841 as “Cathedral music society and Mozarteum” (Dom-Musik-Verein und Mozarteum). These funds significantly support the implementation of the Mozarteum’s many tasks and projects.

YOUR SUPPORT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER
You have the choice of supporting the activities of our institution – which has to manage largely without public subsidies – without specifying a particular purpose for your donation, or of choosing a specific project, such as purchasing Mozart autographs, maintaining Mozart’s original instruments, supporting a stage production, a concert event or activities in our children’s and youth section.
If you make a general donation, your money will be used where it is most urgently needed.
We will of course be happy to inform you personally about the form of your support and details of how donation receipts are issued.

The International Mozarteum Foundation has been listed as a tax-deductible charitable organization with the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance since 1 January 2016 under registration no. KK3301 (donation deductibility in accordance with § 4a para. 2 no. 5 of the Austrian Income Tax Act). In order for us to submit the mandatory electronic report via FinanzOnline, please include your first name, last name, and date of birth with the bank transfer.
Pursuant to Section 5(1)(47)(b) of the German Tax Code (FVG), the International Mozarteum Foundation was added to the ZER registry of grant recipients in August 2026 for the purposes of the special expense deduction in Germany. Therefore, we ask that you transfer membership and patron dues, as well as donations from Germany to our Austrian bank account effective immediately. It is ensured that donations of €300 or more are still tax-deductible in Germany.

Seat Patronage
With your “Seat for Mozart”, you have the opportunity to express your commitment to culture – and in particular to the magnificent Grosse Saal of the Mozarteum.
The original seating in the halls of the Internationale Stiftung Mozarteum was supplied by the renowned companies Thonet und Kohn, both of which also had branches in Munich. In the 1950s, following damage caused by the war and subsequent occupation, the seating was redesigned. In the years since, only minor repairs and improvements have been possible.
An extensive assessment by renowned acousticians and restoration experts produced a surprising result: restoring the existing chairs would not only preserve their historic character, but also provide an enhanced listening experience and greater comfort. To offer our guests more legroom, the first six rows were given a more spacious layout. This was only possible by removing one row of seats.
