Xylophone, glockenspiel and bongo drums: With its huge percussion instrumentation that also includes Latin American instruments, the Harp Concerto by Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera is the perfect prelude to the opening weekend of the 2023/24 concert season, which this year has the motto LatinoMozart. Already at its premiere in Philadelphia in 1965, the rousing work elicited a standing ovation. The soloist for the highly virtuosic harp part is Xavier de Maistre, one of the world's leading harpists, who will also perform Mozart's Concerto for Flute and Harp together with the Cuban flutist Niurka González. LatinoMozart in its purest form.
