The program brings together three central works of the Viennese Classical period: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 31 in D major, K. 297, “Paris”—composed in 1778 for Parisian audiences captivates with its expanded orchestral instrumentation and brilliant sound. Joseph Haydn’s Piano Concerto No. 11 in D major, Hob. XVIII:11 is one of his most significant concertos and combines virtuosic solo passages with a clear formal structure. Ludwig van Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in C major, Op. 56, brings three solo instruments — piano, violin, and cello — into a chamber-music-style dialogue with the orchestra and holds a special place in his oeuvre.
A charity event in aid of the Salzburg Mountain Rescue Service.
