COLLA VOCE

Instruments and voices merge into a single musical entity. Colla voce—literally “with the voice”—is the guiding principle of this programme: Element of Prime and the Paminger Ensemble let language become music and music become language. Throughout the history of instrumental music, composers and performers have repeatedly sought to emulate the expressive qualities of the human voice. Eleven musicians bring vocal and instrumental sound together, presenting music of the sixteenth century in all its intense beauty. The resulting sound is artfully crafted yet unadorned; pure yet finely nuanced. The programme features sacred and secular works by Cristóbal de Morales, Orlando di Lasso, John Wilbye and Lelio Bertani, in settings ranging from five to eleven parts.
