FRAUENSTIMMEN 2024: RECITAL

Katrin Lehismets (soprano) and Francesca Cardone (piano) perform works by Elsa Respighi (Rome, 1894-1996), Silvia Bianchera (*Rome 1943), Pauline Viardot (Paris 1821-1910), Alma Mahler (Vienna 1879-New York 1964), Otilie Sukova (Prague, 1878-1905, Krecovice), Vitezslava Kaprálová (Brno, 1915-1940, Montpellier), Sofia Gubaidulina (*Cistopol' 1931), Ester Mägi (Tallinn 1922-2021) and others.

Estonian soprano Karin Lehismets and Italian-born pianist Francesca Cardone, both from Salzburg, embark on a musical and literary journey through the musical history of Europe to trace the creative diversity of outstanding female composers from this cultural area and locate their common roots. From the Italian composers Elsa Resphighi and Silvia Bianchera, the musical journey continues via the singer and composer Pauline Viardot and the cosmopolitan Alma Mahler with Otilie Sukova and the Martinu pupil Viteszslava Kaprálová to the Czech Republic and then with Ester Mägi to the north, to Tallinn.
