Trio CLARIVOCE

perform works by Alma Mahler (1879-1964), Mathilde Kralik (1857-1944), Vally Weigl (1894-1982), Astrid Spitznagel (*1953), Clara Schumann (1819-1896), Caroline Schleicher (1794-1837), Johanna Doderer (*1969), Clémence de Grandval (1828-1907), Gustav Mahler (1860-1911), Katharina Kreuz (*1982), Elzbieta Wiedner-Zajac (*1944)

Alma Mahler had a complex artistic personality. She was not allowed to compose while she was married to Gustav Mahler, although she would have liked to: after that it was too late. During her composition studies with Joseph Labor and Alexander Zemlinsky, she probably composed more than one hundred songs in total, of which only seventeen have survived. Not being able to realise her talent shaped the personality of the muse and later grande dame of Viennese society. Based on her life story, the concert evening ‘Women like Alma’ with the CLARIVOCE trio tells of the background to women's musical creativity and introduces other female composers with different musical languages and their works, including Clara Schumann and Vally Weigl.
