Programme

Monasteries were not only places of prayer – they were true cultural centres. They attracted composers whose music was carefully preserved in archives and shared among monastic communities. In the 1960s, Robert Münster, then head of the music department at the Bavarian State Library, set out on a musical treasure hunt. He explored music cabinets and organ lofts in monasteries all across Bavaria – and struck gold. Among his discoveries were rare gems, including works by W. A. Mozart. At our concert, you will have the unique opportunity to hear these heavenly sounds performed live - for the first time in over 250 years.

Music by:
Benedikt Holzinger (1747-1815), Luigi Gatti (1740-1817), Johann Michael Haydn (1737-1806), Johann Cajetan Adlgasser (1729-1777), Max Keller (1770-1855), Franz Danzi (1763-1826)

In cooperation with Musiksommer zwischen Inn und Salzach
