BACH'S VIOLIN SONATAS
Sonata II in A major, BWV 1015
Sonata IV in C minor, BWV 1017
Sonata VI in G major, BWV 1019
from the 6 sonatas for violin and harpsichord obbligato
The six sonatas for violin and harpsichord BWV 1014 - 1019 are the first violin sonatas in which the harpsichord not only accompanies the violin as a continuo instrument, but is musically on an equal footing with it. They are milestones in the history of music. Performers of the highest quality are required to do justice to Bach's incomparable mastery: Hiro Kurosaki is concertmaster of Les Arts Florissants, the London Baroque, the Clemencic Consort, the Cappella Coloniensis and Concerto Köln. The young harpsichordist Ignacio Prego is currently enjoying a meteoric rise as a soloist. In this duo, experience and youth come together in perfect harmony and meet Bach's highest demands.
