Do Mozart’s letters reveal anything about The Magic Flute? What did contemporaries say about Emanuel Schikaneder and his troupe? In this programme, with the unusual combination of bassoon and voice interacting with Mozart’s own fortepiano, letters, documents and music offer some amusing insights into the last year of Mozart’s life. Besides works by Mozart some rarely played compositions by his Viennese colleagues can also be heard.
