In 2024, she won the prestigious UBS Young Artist Award: the rising young Salzburg-born cellist Julia Hagen. In addition to the opportunity to perform with the Vienna Philharmonic under Christian Thielemann at the renowned Lucerne Festival - a performance hailed by the press as 'brilliant' - this honor places the talented and passionate musician alongside past awardees such as Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Sol Gabetta, Martin Helmchen, Vilde Frang, and Kian Soltani, all of whom launched international careers thanks to the prize. In this master concert at the Mozarteum Foundation, Julia Hagen, together with her piano partner Annika Treutler, explores the cello repertoire of great composers - while also taking a detour into the world of fairy tales.
