The music of Argentina, the music of Astor Piazzolla, springs from passion, melancholy, devotion and rhythm. It evokes a world which, though geographically distant, touches the very core of one’s being. Folk motifs and deeply emotional narrative forms are more than mere borrowings from the classical art song. The internationally acclaimed soprano and passionate song-narrator Christiane Karg embarks on a journey through the streets of Buenos Aires with an accomplished ensemble. The programme features Astor Piazzolla, Alberto Ginastera, Carlos Guastavino and, of course, Mozart. Tango is presented not merely as a form of dance, but as a logical continuation of the emotional world of Viennese Classicism.
