The Mozart Museums of the International Mozarteum Foundation house the world’s largest collection of authentic portraits of the Mozart family. Whilst these provide a true-to-life insight, sensational new discoveries have been circulating for a long time, which suggest at first glance that they cannot be genuine portraits of Mozart. The special exhibition at the Mozart House offers a journey through Mozart iconography, unravels forgery mysteries and provides fascinating insights into the history of portrait painting from the Baroque period to Historicism.
