CAMERATA and its new artistic partner Julian Prégardien once again set out into the 'Schubert Cosmos'. This time they explore Schubert’s remarkable connection with his role model Beethoven, who owned several poems by Ludwig Rellstab. After Beethoven’s death, Schubert received the Rellstab poems and used them as texts for songs. Julian Prégardien will now sing five of these songs from the cycle Schwanengesang, accompanied by CAMERATA in a specially commissioned orchestral arrangement by the German composer Detlev Glanert.

Schubert’s extraordinarily virtuosic setting of Rellstab’s poem 'Auf dem Strome' will be performed by Prégardien with the original accompaniment for horn and piano. Surrounding the songs, CAMERATA performs Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, the final movement from Schubert’s Fourth Symphony, and Beethoven’s lyrical, song-like Fourth Piano Concerto, for which the sensitive and poetic musician Kristian Bezuidenhout returns to CAMERATA.
