Programme
Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre is one of the most important composers of the Baroque period and is considered France's first female opera composer. Her work captivates listeners with its diversity of genres and wealth of musical solutions, which she uses to impressively highlight dramatic elements. In her cantatas, biblical and mythological themes are told not only vocally but also instrumentally – the instruments take on scenic functions, such as the creation of a sleeping scene, similar to opera. The programme presents the multifaceted work of Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre and, through chamber music and solo compositions, brings her expressiveness and stylistic range to life in a touching way.
