Programme

The European Tour Opening 2026 begins

An evening of music under the title “The Double Four Seasons”:
In the first half of the concert, the renowned Chinese violinist Lu Siqing, together with the United Chinese–Hungarian Chamber Orchestra, presents The Chinese Four Seasons by composer Wen Ziyang. The second half of the program is devoted to The Hungarian Four Seasons by composer Stefán Péter, performed by the Hungarian pianist Kovács Gergely.

These two exceptional works, written in a neoclassical and neo-folkloristic idiom, offer original creations and imaginative interpretations of the eternal theme of the changing seasons. Their appearance is of particular historical significance, as it coincides with the 300th anniversary of Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and the 150th anniversary of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s piano cycle The Seasons.

Both works celebrated their world premieres last year in China and Singapore. The upcoming European tour marks the first occasion on which they will be presented together on the same stage. These twin compositions vividly illuminate the musical heritage of China and Hungary, weaving authentic folk traditions into the language of chamber music and piano solo performance. Rich in regional melodies and dance rhythms, artfully crafted and masterfully interpreted, they reveal striking resonances between two geographically distant cultures.
As contemporary visions of The Four Seasons, these works carry forward the classical legacy – uniting national culture with classical art – and reinterpret the cycle of the seasons from a fresh perspective that speaks powerfully to audiences worldwide.
