A musical puppet adventure in three pictures.
With the best of the best that Mozart has to offer!

Mozart's music reaches and touches young and old, and above all its incomparable sound world can also be connected with the current issues of our time. For Mozart Week 2023, the Salzburg Marionette Theatre will present a rousing adventure journey of a marionette: The Old Tree - Or: Franzi's Journey to the End of the World is a heart-warming and burningly topical play for children and young people, for all those who care about the environment. The concerns of the Fridays for Future generation are presented seriously and charmingly, excitingly and sensitively, accompanied by Mozart arrangements with refreshingly unconventional instrumentation such as drums and accordion. In this first directorial and conceptual work by the Austrian singer-actor Paul Schweinester, the story of young Franzi and her fight against the destruction of nature is told. For Franzi, trees are not inner-city wasters of space or merely raw materials to be built on or burned up, but living, protective and growing bundles of strength that must be preserved! Global warming and the progressive concreting over of the landscape will soon make it impossible for nature to maintain its place and its so important function for the earth. Franzi wants to help: supported by her friends and inspired by Mozart's music, she sets off to the ends of the earth to save her beloved trees...

Suitable for adults, young people and children aged eight and over.

A co-production of the Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg and the Salzburg Marionette Theater
