FEMALE VOICES 2023: Choral concert in cooperation with the Stiftskantorey St. Peter and the "Kirchenmusikalischen Herbst"
Dates

Jugendkantorei des Salzburger Domes
Programme
With the concert series FRAUENSTIMMEN, whose concerts have been held regularly since 2010, the Maria-Anna-Mozart-Gesellschaft organises Austria's longest-running concert series dedicated to the music of female composers.
In cooperation with the Archabbey of St. Peter and the Kirchenmusikalischer Herbst: The Stiftskantorey St. Peter (cond.: Peter Peinstingl) and the Jugendkantorei of Salzburg Cathedral (cond.: Gerrit Stadlbauer) interpret works by Marianna Martines (1744-1812) and others.
Until the middle of the 19th century, women were not even allowed to sing at Salzburg Cathedral, and it took until the 21st century for music by female composers to finally be heard in Salzburg's venerable churches, the Salzburg Cathedral and St. Peter's Cathedral. This is partly thanks to the FRAUENSTIMMEN, in the context of which a concert by the Jugendkantorei under the direction of Gerrit Stadlbauer in Salzburg Cathedral in 2021 gave a magnificent insight into the sacred works of various female composers from the 12th century to the present day, which was enthusiastically received by the audience. Now a mass by the Austrian composer and Mozart contemporary Marianna von Martines (1744-1812) will be heard as the main work of the concert, alongside compositions by other women composers, in the collegiate church of the Archabbey of St. Peter.
