Mozart’s letters repeatedly transport us in entertaining manner into the genius’s way of thinking. Mozart is not a sober chronicler, he always throws himself heart and soul into everything. As the examples Johann Christian Bach and Muzio Clementi show, he sharply and frankly analyses the strengths and weaknesses of his musical contemporaries, and he certainly also allowed himself to be inspired by their works.
