Following their overwhelming success with Monteverdi's L'Orfeo at the Semperoper Dresden in spring 2023, Rolando Villazón, Wolfgang Katschner and the lautten compagney BERLIN shed light in their new concert programme on the inner world of a modern man who undertakes a journey to the centre of his own soul, experiencing all the emotional highs and lows that make up our human existence. Musically, the emotionally charged expedition takes us to 17th century Italy and explores in particular the then innovative art form of the monody centred around the composer Claudio Monteverdi, who made history as the most famous pioneer and trailblazer of early opera.
No intermission; end at approx. 9.45 p.m.
