Programme
Maria Loos (recorders), Lukas Praxmarer (baroque violin), Gabriele Ruhland (baroque cello, viola da gamba), Veronika Braß (harpsichord, organ) play music by Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre (1665-1729), Mrs. Philarmonica (17th century - 18th century?), Anna Bon di Venezia (1738-1767), Wilhelmine von Bayreuth (1709-1758), Marianna Martines (1744 -1812) and Isabella Leonarda (1620-1704) Four strokes of luck - this is how Concerto describes both the ensemble Spirit of Musicke and the four composers of the recently released CD Women4Baroque II.
Isabella Leonarda, Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Mrs. Philarmonica and Anna Bon di Venezia are the composers of this CD as well as of many concert programs.
To continue this exciting work, the ensemble Spirit of Musicke is moving forward,
adding new pieces by female composers to the program, creating closeness and an intense experience through the present and always lively moderation.
One of these new discoveries is the flute sonata by Wilhelmine von Bayreuth, wonderfully refreshing music, sometimes unusually asymmetrical, full of emotion, full of power
and also full of lightness. The ensemble has selected new trio and solo sonatas by Isabella Leonarda, Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Mrs. Philarmonica and Anna Bon.
solo sonatas, wonderful music!
“Spirit of Musicke showed that early music sounds irresistibly natural...” (FAZ)
