Margarita Ruprecht, reading

Even though these female composers lived in different eras and represented different musical styles, there are still some points of contact between them. Their success was characterized above all by their pioneering spirit, which enabled them to develop their passion for music and compose brilliant works in an era dominated by male norms. Some of them, such as Clara Schumann or Luise Adolpha LeBeau, were also outstanding pianists and musicians in addition to their compositional activities. Lili Boulanger, who died young, was so outstanding as a composer that she was the first woman to be awarded the Prix du Rome in 1913. Like many others, these female composers were internationally recognized during their lifetimes and were only forgotten later.
